Guide to Grafana 101: Getting started with Alerts

We’ve all been there - something crashes, there’s an outage, or our users report performance degradation, and we need to take action ASAP.

While there are many systems that can alert us when we hit certain thresholds or our systems are down, Grafana supports a wide array of data sources, can send alerts for PostgreSQL, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, and many other popular services (and it’s open source!) - making it a popular choice for developers looking for a more flexible and cost-effective option.

Join Avthar Sewrathan, Timescale Developer Advocate and time-series pro, as he talks through how to use Grafana’s alerting functionality to get notified about anomalies, dig into root causes, and respond to critical issues.

We’ll focus on code and step-by-step demos, using a scenario where we need to create alerts for dashboards that monitor key pieces of our infrastructure.

During the session, you’ll:

  • Get an introduction to how alerts work in Grafana
  • Define alert rules for your panels and dashboards
  • Configure different notification channels, like Slack and email
  • Hear pro tips and recommendations
  • Learn how to integrate alerting into your own Grafana dashboards and projects

We’ll have Grafana experts on hand to answer your questions, and we’ll send the recording, resources, and demos to all registrants, so you can kickstart your monitoring journey.

Whether you’ve never used Grafana and are looking for a cheaper alternative to existing monitoring tools, or are a Grafana pro who’s looking for new tips & tricks, this session is for you :).

Sign up even if you’re unable to attend live - you’ll receive all resources via email shortly following the session.

We hope to see you soon.
