Supporting the Influx Line Protocol

It would be a neat enhancement to Timescale/Promscale to support the Influx Line Protocol. A nice advantage of InfluxDB is its schema is dynamic, I can push a new float point and then a new boolean point and the database will handle that, creating new field or just append to an existing field without preplanning the schema additions (i.e create tables, alter tables, etc). It occurred to me that Promscale basically does this, just with the float64 numbers that Promethus supports. It doesn’t seem like too huge of a shift to have Promscale support additional datatypes and infer the type upon ingestion. It seems like a nice competitive edge, while giving users the flexibility they may have been previously used to. Has Timescale considered anything like this?

@brian thanks for the feedback. Support for the Influx Line Protocol is currently on the Promscale roadmap for the second half of this year.
